Lt. Colonel Richard C. Hill

Lt. Colonel Richard C. Hill, 67, passed away on March 7, 2021. He was a native of Newton, Massachusetts and was a resident of Yorktown, Virginia for 26 years. LTC Hill served in the U.S. Air Force as a F15 fighter pilot during Operation Desert Shield/Storm and achieved during his career the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Combat Readiness Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He graduated from Parks College of St. Louis University, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, U.S.A.F. Fighter Weapons School (Nellis AFB in Nevada), and he received his Master’s Degree in Foreign Policy from Saint Leo University. Richard retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. He then continued his career as Captain for Delta Airlines for 23 years.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard C. and Mary E. Hill. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Donna Jean Hill; sons, Christopher and Amy Hill of Dallas, TX, and Matthew and Marina Hill of Kill Devil Hills, NC; grandchildren, Rylee J. Fowler, Pierce C. Hill, Eleanor Jean Hill, and Maxwell R. Hill; brothers, Craig and Susan Hill of Milford, MA, and Brian and Sue Hill of Taunton, MA; sister, Diane and Joseph Champagne of Acton, MA; mother-in-law, Dorothy J. Hall of Newport News, VA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., in Newport News. Livestreaming will be available at www.peninsulafuneralhome.com/video. Guests are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
