Louise N. Knemeyer

Louise Neal Knemeyer, 97, peacefully passed away, while residing at Spring Arbor of Williamsburg, on November 4, 2021.  The daughter of the late John and Jane Neal, Louise was born in Marshallberg, North Carolina.  At a young age, Louise and her parents moved from North Carolina to Newport News, later settling down in Hampton.   Louise was a graduate of Hampton High School and upon graduation, she attended Norfolk Business School.  She later worked as the secretary to the Director of Personnel at NACA (now NASA).

Louise lived a very active life, raising four children. She was a member of the Hidenwood Garden Club.  Her love for gardening was reflected in the yard of her Riverside home.  As a young girl, she was a member of Hampton Baptist Church and as an adult, she joined Grace United Methodist Church, where she was a longtime member.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John E. Knemeyer, sister, Alene Cofer, and brothers, Abner Neal and J.B. Neal.   Her memory is left to be cherished by daughters, Linda Harvey and Karen Potter; sons, Neal Knemeyer (Donna) and Ken Knemeyer; grandson, Kevin Tucker (Jennifer); granddaughter, Elizabeth Long; great-grandchildren, Brody, Jake, Emma, and Andrew; and a host of loving relatives and faithful friends.

A graveside service will be private.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Peninsula Rescue Mission, 3700 Huntington Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607. 

The family will be forever grateful to the staff at Spring Arbor of Williamsburg for their kind and loving care.

    Neal and Donna, I am truly sorry for your loss. Neal that was a beautiful picture of your mother.. Losing someone you love is never easy. My deepest sympathy.
