Kevin S. Mahler

Kevin S. Mahler, 57, of Glen Allen, died peacefully at his mother’s home on Sunday, April 18, 2021.

Kevin began his lifelong love of all things computers at the early age of 12 when his mother sent him on a field trip to the Science museum in Richmond. He grew up hanging out at Radio Shack and began his career at the local Apple Computer store in Newport News. After moving to Atlanta, Ga. he worked for Cisco for a number of years until he took a job in the Cayman Islands. He was Cisco Certified, #7380 and wrote Cisco Certified Network Associate Training Guide. Upon returning from Cayman, he again worked for Cisco.

In addition to his lifelong love of computers, he was involved in many hobbies. He loved to scuba dive and was a scuba instructor. He loved to travel and traveled to many exotic places to dive. Kevin enjoyed photography, under water and on land, bird watching, flying, skiing (water and snow), motorcycling and ham radio KO4JY. He still had pages in his flight logbook left to fill.

Kevin is survived by his mother, Margaret “Judy” Mahler and his father, Samuel Mahler and his wife, Mary; his sisters Maggie Knight and her husband, David, Samantha Mahler and her wife, Jenny Slocum; aunts, uncles and many cousins and cherished friends. His faithful dog, Zena, will continue to reside with and protect his mother.

Due to the present covid restrictions, celebration of life will be held at a later date and per Kevin’s request he will be cremated. Kevin loved his dogs and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an animal focused charity of your choice in Kevin’s memory.

Kevin’s one request was that the word “berserk” be used in his obituary, so ….BERSERK!
