Kap Chol Kim

“In my Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:2.

I have loved well and been well loved in this earthly world. Grieve, but rejoice in my passing to a better place.

I praise God for my journey and all that resulted from it. I only regret that I have not been able to say goodbye to everyone that has touched my life in so many ways. Those close to me during my cancer treatment journey know that I looked for silver linings in every storm cloud. Thank you all for being my support network that inspired me to do that and I thank Almighty God for giving me those blessings of inspiration and positivity as he walked along side of me on my cancer journey and carried me when I was weak in body and spirit.

I was born in the land of the rising sun, Inchon, South Korea, but immigrated to this great country in 1977 with my family.  After moving to this great country and trying out many different jobs, I found a good paying job for my family working for the City of Hampton at the Hampton Coliseum. I worked there for over 27 years and finally retiring on February 1, 2004. After my retirement, I began my service to the Almighty God.

I am survived by my loving wife Chun Yeol Kim who have loved and cared for me for 56 years. I am so blessed by my daughter Virginia Kim and her two wonderful children Sean and Samantha and my son Jimmie Kim and his wife Kelly and their two wonderful children Matthew and Rachel. I was especially loved and blessed by my “family” of friends around the world who have been through it all with me. I am thankful for my spiritual family at the Peninsula Korean Baptist Church that have been steadfast during my cancer journey. All of you have been my prayer warriors and I am so grateful for that. I can’t express just how uplifted I was by your prayers, love, and support during my last moments. I ask that you remember me by donating your time to help anyone in need. Be kind and loving to others.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. at the Korean Baptist Church, with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be held in the church cemetery following the service.

Now I leave you to make a place for you. Until we meet again, I love you all.
