Karen Wright Guida

Surrounded by loved ones, Karen W. Guida passed away peacefully, at her home in Yorktown, VA, and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at the age of 64. She was born on October 25, 1957, in Huntington, WV to Herbert (Pete) and Grace Wright.

Karen grew up in Newport News, graduated from Menchville High School in 1975, and attended Riverside Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1978 and went on to work for Riverside Hospital for 35 years.

She had a way of impacting everyone she encountered, whether it was through her selfless acts, kind ways, or loving support. Through these things, her spirit will be carried on by so many and will remain in our community. Karen was sweet but tough, driven and determined. She loved the beach, her backyard, and being outside on her back porch to enjoy the peace and serenity.  But her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Karen was preceded in death by her father, Herbert E. Wright. She is survived by her mother, Grace P. Wright; beloved companion of 20 years, Robert Bracey;  two children, Ashley Dentino (Kyle) and Michael Guida; two grandchildren, Raelyn and Vincent; two sisters Vickie “Vic” Bazemore (Mickey) and Deborah “Deb” Lent (Tony); her “bestie” Armita Galloway (Ron); and many other friends and family members.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Peninsula Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Riverside Hospital Cancer Care https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/riverside in Karen’s honor.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Boulevard, Newport News, VA 23601.

I had the pleasure of working with Karen at Riverside, she taught me alot, as she would say Benita you taught me alot. When I had to stop working due to a disability, before she retired she called me and ask am I able to come back to work cause she had a labor pool position (2 days a week) and she would like to offer me and that was in 2012. When there was a layoff she called and ask Benita did they cut your position, I told, her no they did not and she said good. She so loved her kids and grandkids, her family period. I will always remember our times together at work and that smile. Rest easy
