James Hope Nicholson, III
James Hope Nicholson, III, 79, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022, in Newport News, Virginia.
He was a native of Newport News but had been a resident of York County for the past 46 years. Jim retired from Newport News Shipbuilding after 45 years as a Master Shipbuilder. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served in Vietnam.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Hope Nicholson, Jr. and Lorraine Jansen Nicholson, and his wife, Thelma Martin Nicholson. He is survived by three daughters, Theresa Jordan (Phillip), Patricia Holguin (Keith), and Kathy Paul (Jeff); one son, James Hope Nicholson, IV (Genevieve); two grandchildren, Amanda Meadows (Wayne) and Donnie Jordan; two great-grandchildren, Madilynn and Brody Meadows; sister, Juliette Alston (Bobby); brother, Joseph Nicholson; six nieces and nephews; and grand dogs, River, Brook, Gidgey, and Brownie.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home and interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.

You truly be missed. I really enjoyed your sea stories. Once again Thank you and your wife for saving Shadow! Candice and I tell the story that story a lot. Especially the part where your wife asked to wait to pick him up. Being that he was on the couch watching tv with you, and eating popcorn.
