Edmund Marcus Blanks, Jr.
Edmund M. Blanks, Jr., 75, of Hampton, Virginia passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023. He was a native of South Boston and had been a resident of Hampton for many years. Edmund retired from the Commonwealth of Virginia after 32 years of service as an Accountant, serving 10 years working at Thomas Nelson Community College and ending his career at the Department of Motor Vehicles. He served proudly in the U.S. Coast Guard. Edmund was a graduate of Old Dominion University, and he was a member of Liberty Live Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond Blanks, Sr. and Thelma E. Blanks, and sisters Myrtle Shelton and Emma Smith. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathleen Blanks; daughter, Erin; two sons, Jonathan (Amy) and Ryan; nephew Larry Shelton; niece Teresa Metcalf; and sister-in-law Diane Figuenick.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Liberty Live Church with a funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.

My condolences to the family. Ed Blanks was a good man and will be missed. I was at TNCC when he was there and was well respected by all. I’m just glad I got to see him at our local grocery store and enjoyed a laugh together!
