Doris Anne Bryant

Doris Anne Bryant, the wife of the late Tom Bryant, was called to Heaven on January 6, 2021. She devoted her life to her family, home, and church. Doris Anne was a member of Chestnut Memorial United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. She was a member of United Methodist Women Circle 6 and served as leader of the circle several times over her many years. Doris Anne was a children’s Sunday School teacher and also enjoyed many lunch dates with the Red Hat Society. Also, our family is proud of the civic duty she performed as a lead election poll worker in her precinct in the City of Newport News for over 30 years.

Born in North Carolina on July 2, 1934 the only child of Corbitt and Doris Bridgers, she grew up with the love of many Spivey cousins on her mother’s side and they all remained close throughout her lifetime.

Doris Anne is survived by her son, Tommy, her daughter, Teri Forman (Donald); two grandchildren, who she adored, Ashley Forman and Kelly B. Forman (Allison); she was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Ava Lily, Greyson, Vale Bryant, and Savannah. Doris Anne was loved by them all!

A graveside service was held on Monday, January 11. In lieu of flowers, a gift in memory of Doris Anne to Chestnut Memorial United Methodist Church is requested.

Arrangements were handled by Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.
