Arline S. Quarles

Mrs. Arline S. Quarles, 91, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Harbor Chase in Rock Hill. Born in Green Springs, VA, Mrs. Quarles was the daughter of the late Edward Stokes and the late Jennie Melton Stokes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Wilson Quarles; and six siblings. She was a bookkeeper for Jack’s Auto Supply, the business she owned with her husband. She was very creative and could do just about anything. She crocheted mats for the homeless with her women’s group at her church and was very active in church activities. She was a First United Methodist Church member in Newport News, VA.

Surviving are her daughters, Charleen Lynn Ayers of Knoxville, TN, and Lorrie Gale (C.W.) Cobb of York, SC; her son, Denis Keith (Diane) Quarles of Bel Air, MD; eight grandchildren, Ashley Lynn Ayers of Kalispell, MT, Ryan Patrick (Sommer) Ayers of Kalispell, MT, Kyle Logan Ayers of Knoxville, TN, Christopher Stephen (Cherell) Cobb of Chester, SC, Rachel Liane (Blake) Gilfillan of York, SC, Mallory Danielle (Eric) Cobb of York, SC, Erin Leigh Quarles of Plantation, FL, and Philip Trent Quarles of Boulder, CO; and four great-grandchildren, Piper Dawn Ayers of Kalispell, MT, Kayla Marie Moore of Knoxville, TN, Macyn Christopher McDaniel of York, SC, James Blakely Gilfillan, Jr. of York, SC and Logan Phoenix Cobb of York, SC.

A visitation will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. The memorial service will  follow at 2:00 p.m. with interment at Peninsula Memorial Park.

    Airline loved her family but would stand no nonsense.When the sisters got together it was real girls fun. I miss her sense of humor and the time I got to spend with the family .I’m so sorry for everyone’s loss she will be greatly missed
