Alease Osborne Baxter

Alease Osborne Baxter, 101, began her final journey on February 9, 2022 while wishing her loved ones farewell.  She was born in South Boston, Va. to Garnett E. and Maggie Anderson Osborne.  Alease graduated from Halifax High School with a business degree.  As a young woman she moved to Newport News, Va. to find her destiny.

Alease centered her life caring for her children and raising them in a Christian and nurturing environment while substitute teaching and volunteering at local hospitals.  She was a beautiful soul, with a caring and warm spirit and sweet smile that touched the heart.  She truly embraced the goodness of mankind while traveling the world with her husband Alex.  She also enjoyed playing golf with friends at Deer Run Golf Club and spending summers at Pompano Beach, Florida.  Alease enjoyed her last 15 years at The Arbors at Port Warwick, Newport News, where everyone addressed her as “Miss Wonderful” thanks to her endearing positive attitude.

Alease was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn Osborne; brothers, Garnett Elmer Osborne II and Dr. Walter Wyatt Osborne; and nephew, Walter Wyatt Osborne, Jr.  She leaves behind her children, Alex B. Baxter, Jr. (Lori) and Carolyn Baxter Baugher (CB); grandchildren, Charlie McLeod (Amy), Craig Baxter (Jennifer), Jeremy Baugher (Karyn), Josh Baugher (Julia), and Meredith Rose Baugher; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Reagan Baxter, Emily McLeod and Edison James “Sonny” Baugher; nieces, Alease Osborne Tallman (Paul), Bethell Anne Osborne (Steve Wilson), and Anders Osborne Haines; nephew, Garnett Elmer Osborne III (Susan) and niece, Caroline Grove (James); and sister-in-law, Norma Ingeborg Osborne.
