William Donald Johnson (Don) went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 11, 2024. Don was born on April 20, 1939, to Judson and Virginia Johnson. He was a graduate of Newport News High School. He was the owner of Don’s Jewelry, Inc. as a watchmaker and jeweler serving his customers for more than 35 years. He retired in April 2000 when he closed the family business. Don served for more than 50 years at Calvary Baptist Church, Newport News and Mill Swamp Baptist Church, Ivor, serving in various positions to include Deacon Chairman, Church Trustee and various other leadership positions.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra K. Johnson of 62 years. His father, Judson Johnson, mother, Virginia Johnson, daughter, Karen J. Rudloff and brother Tommy Johnson.
Don is survived by his son, William R. Johnson and wife, Patti of Charlottesville, VA; daughters, Donna J. Blanchard and husband, Joseph of Williamsburg, VA and Deborah J. Scott and husband, Mack of Chesapeake, VA; son-in-law David W. Rudloff of Montross, VA; nine grandchildren, Amber Swindle, Jennifer Moore, Stephanie Sensi, Courtney Crane, Michael Rudloff, Brittany Roberts, Megan Blanchard, Andrew Blanchard, and Esi Blanchard; thirteen great grandchildren. Don is also survived by his brothers, Jimmy Johnson of Navarre, FL and Wayne Johnson and wife Mary of Gloucester, VA and many other family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Mill Swamp Baptist Church, 6329 Mill Swamp Rd., Ivor, VA 23866, on Wednesday, December 18 at 11 AM, followed by the funeral service at 12 PM. The burial will follow at Mill Swamp Cemetery adjacent to the church.
