Shirley Irene McGlaun, 85, passed from this earthly life into eternity on Friday, May 30, 2025. She was born on June 24, 1939, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a resident of the Peninsula for the last 47 years.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Irene Simpson, and her husband, Larry Earl McGlaun. She is survived by her three children, Sherry Huskey (Rick), Michael McGlaun, and Derek McGlaun, as well as multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley had a talent for painting, a hobby she picked up while living in Alaska. She loved to play Yahtzee with her grandchildren and enjoyed crossword puzzles and word searches.
In her final years, Shirley spent much of her time watching old classic movies. Shirley had a very generous heart. She gave to those in need and regularly donated to various organizations and causes. Shirley enjoyed reading her Bible and had many long discussions with her sons about their understanding of the scriptures.
Shirley will be laid to rest alongside her husband in the Hampton Memorial Gardens. Upon her request, there will be no service.
