Sharon Leigh Arneault passed away peacefully in Williamsburg, Virginia, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, where she joined our heavenly father at the age of 88 years old. A celebration of life will be held at the Peninsula Funeral Home located at 11144 Warwick Blvd. in Newport News, Virginia, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 1:00 -2:00 PM. A burial ceremony will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park, located on Warwick Boulevard in Newport News, Virginia.
Sharon was born on a farm in Brown County in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on March 13, 1937, to Marian and Donald Leigh. She had three siblings: her sister, Donna, and her brothers, Wayne and Richard. She became an Air Force spouse when she married Donald Arneault in April 1956. Sharon and Donald had four daughters, Nicki Jo, Rene’, Monique, and Simone. She was blessed with many adventures and was able to travel a bit of the world as a result of Donald’s assignments with the Air Force, where they lived in places such as Indiana, Georgia, Okinawa, and the Philippines. The last assignment with the Air Force led Sharon and Donald to Virginia in the mid-1970s. Upon Donald’s retirement from the Air Force, Sharon and Donald built a home in Newport News, Virginia, where Sharon lived and enjoyed many years with her family and friends until her recent passing. Sharon was a strong, courageous, loving, and charitable woman with a heart of gold. She was heavily involved with the Langley Air Force Base Chapel, where she and her husband, Donald, ran the youth group ministry. Sharon was an outstanding homemaker, chef, baker, artist, musician, seamstress, decorator, and, in more recent years, author of poems and short stories.
Sharon was preceded in rest by her husband, Donald Arneault, her parents, Marian and Donald Leigh, her sister Donna Bowring, her brother Richard Leigh, and niece Kim Sykes.
Sharon is survived by her four daughters, Nicki Jo Williams, Rene’ Morgan, Monique Arneault, and Simone Arneault; seven grandchildren, Michelle Herman, Joshua Arneault, Christine Dawkins, Jordan Isom; Skylar Bilawsky; Ziyad Williams, Mali Williams; six great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Arneault, Ian Herman, Easton Arneault, Elena Herman, Morgan Dawkins, and Wesley Dawkins; three nieces, Tami Bowring, Jodi Peters, Jennifer Gaines; three nephews, Butch Bowring, Jamie Leigh, Jerry Leigh; and close friends, Carol Byrd, Sue Trull, Carolyn Garrett, and Barbara Christensen.
