Robert Stanley Davis “Bobby,” 87, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025.
Bobby was a lifelong resident of Hampton Roads. After graduating from Newport News High School in 1956, he attended Randolph Macon College and Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School. He graduated from NASA Langley Research Center Apprentice School in 1966 and worked at NASA as a machinist until his retirement. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Bobby enjoyed sports throughout his life and played both high school and college football and basketball. He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Volleyball Team and was the reigning champion of the daily lunchtime ping pong matches at NASA. He went on ski trips and attended college football games with friends. He was an avid swimming and soccer fan and did not miss an event when his grandsons competed. He was also interested in gardening and history. He loved spending time at family gatherings, and for years, he had a weekly standing breakfast club meeting at Warwick Restaurant to keep up with old friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rita Davis, his father, Randolph Davis, his mother, Mildred Davis, and his brother, Donald Davis.
He is survived by his daughter, Robin Malarkey, and his son, Christopher Davis; his grandsons, Brad Malarkey and Drew Malarkey; his brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Dru Davis; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and John Munn; his sister-in-law, Edna Martin; and his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park on Wednesday, October 15, at 3:00 p.m.
