Robert Joseph “Bob” Polarek, 80, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024. Bob was a native of Connecticut and was a resident of Newport News and retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 35 years as a Shop 38 Supervisor. Bob also served in the United States Air Force.
Bob was preceded in death by his daughters Karen Polarek and Kimberly Smith. He is survived by his wife, Linda S. Polarek; son, Keith Polarek; three grandchildren, Reagan E. Polarek, Matthew Smith and Stephen Galuszka; sister, Sylvia Groff; brother George Polarek; and nieces and nephews, Jay Polarek, Jodi Klemowski and Jen Groff.
His journey on earth may have ended, but his legacy continues through the strength he demonstrated, the lives he touched, and the cherished memories held by those who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Liberty Live Baptist Church, and a funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will take place at Peninsula Memorial Park.
