Robert “Bob” Blymyer

Robert “Bob” Blymyer, 87, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. He was a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and a resident of Newport News for 58 years. He retired as a supervisor from BASF after 37 years. Bob was a member of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, Adopt a Spot, a bowling league, a hunter, and an avid fisherman.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Olga M. Blymyer (Huszar) and Ellsworth Leroy Blymyer, his sister, Loretta Blymyer-Terry, and brother, Donald Blymyer (Linda). He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy Marie (nee-Fabian) Blymyer; daughter, Elaine Steen; sons, Bobby, Billy, and Tom; multiple grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.

His journey on earth may have ended, but Bob’s legacy continues through the strength he demonstrated, the lives he touched, and the cherished memories held by those who knew him.

A viewing will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, with the funeral mass following. The family will receive friends at the church following the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the Knights of Columbus Council, 5480 Nettles Drive, Newport News, Virginia.

    Nancy, Very sorry to hear about Bob’s death. He was a fine gentleman and always so warm and welcoming at Church. You and Bob carried the monthly Coffee, Treats and Fellowship very month. I carry you in my heart.
