Nancy Williams

Nancy Williams, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday December 4, 2025. Born on October 29, 1937, Nancy was raised in Farmville, Virginia, where she grew up as the youngest of thirteen children. Her early years shaped her deep love for family, faith, and the simple joys of life.

Nancy had a gift for creating warmth wherever she went. She spent countless hours baking bread and chocolate chip cookies for loved ones, ceramics, tending to her garden with patience and pride, always sharing her vegetables with friends and family. A devoted and faithful member of her church, she as a member of the choir and devoted her time and talents to various committees. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering love were felt by all who knew her.

Nancy was also a fighter—quietly strong, resilient, and steady in the face of life’s challenges. She carried herself with grace and determination, showing her family what it meant to persevere with faith and courage.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Sonny” Williams, whom she loved dearly until his passing on February 14, 2016. Their marriage was a true partnership—full of laughter, devotion, and a shared commitment to family.

Nancy is survived by her two sons, Steven and wife Melissa, Brian and wife Amy, and four grandchildren— Gabe, Hope, Peyton, and Kasey—each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. In addition, she leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Nancy’s legacy is one of love, strength, and generosity. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her steadfast spirit, and the countless ways she made life sweeter for those around her.

A funeral service and celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Denbigh United Presbyterian Church, located at 302 Denbigh Blvd, Newport News, VA. Family and friends are invited to attend and honor her memory.

Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love and strength will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
