Myong C. Paeng, 80, married 59 years of Newport News, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 11, 2024. She immigrated to the United States in 1976 with her son and daughter, where she became a pillar of strength and faith in her community.
Myong was a traditional Korean garment business owner, operating a store in front of Dong Hwa Baek Ka Geom in Korea. After moving to the United States, she worked tirelessly for 10 years, not only operating a business but also supporting her husband’s ministry education. For 32 years, she dedicated her life as a pastor’s wife, faithfully serving the Lord at Siloam Korean Baptist Church in Newport News.
Though Myong’s beloved daughter, Kathleen Il Kyong Paeng, passed away 38 years ago, Myong’s love and devotion to her family never wavered. Despite the heartache of losing her daughter, she raised her two grandsons, Nikolas and Thomas, with love and resilience, traveling back and forth between Virginia and New Jersey for 15 years to ensure they had a strong, loving foundation.
She was a woman of great faith and fierce resilience, fighting through illness with strength until the very end. Myong is survived by her loving husband, Tal U. Paeng; her son, Matt Paeng and daughter-in-law, Susie Paeng; and grandsons, Nikolas and Thomas Paeng.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, with Senior Pastor Dr. Sean Chung presiding. A graveside service will follow at Peninsula Korean Baptist Church, 972 Harpersville Road, Newport News, presided by Rev. Won Suk Do.
