Kathryn Anne Busch Glasscock left this world and joined her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born to Herman E. and Edria S. Busch of Olathe, Kansas, on March 14, 1930.
She was reared on a dairy farm in Kansas and was ready to pursue other ventures upon graduating from Olathe High School in Olathe, Kansas. She recalled going to a one-room schoolhouse through 8th grade and walking many times through snow several feet deep. Upon graduation, she began a career in administrative positions with several insurance companies.
She met her husband, Norman Derwood Glasscock, while he was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. After living in several states, they moved to Yorktown, Virginia, and joined Chestnut Memorial United Methodist Church.
She and her husband delivered “Meals on Wheels” for many years when they were in their 80s. She loved travelling with her husband, family, and friends. One of her favorite places to spend time was at their cottage in Nags Head, NC, where she relished the time they spent with the entire family.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norman, parents Herman and Edria Busch, two brothers and a sister, son Joseph Harold Glasscock, and grandson Richard Brent Hawkins.
She was loved by many but especially cherished by her two daughters, Janet Hawkins (Richard) of Midlothian, VA, Jerri Karstetter (Paul) of Centreville, VA, and son Jack (Georgia) Glasscock of Annandale, VA.
She was extremely close to her grandchildren, Jenni Thompson (Ashley), Bernadette Hawkins, Kyle Hawkins, Philip Karstetter (Kelli), Amanda Jimeno (Tyler) and Jake and Karly Glasscock in addition to her four great-grandchildren, Brynn Hawkins, Scott and Kevin Thompson, and Nolan Jimeno as well as several loving nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Barclay Assisted Living, the Caregivers at Care with Love, and the Care Team at Bristol Hospice for all of the love and care they provided in her final days.
There will be a service at Peninsula Funeral Home on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 12:00 noon. A Private burial will be at Peninsula Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Heart Association, or American Cancer Society.
