Judith Bennett Williamson

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Judith Bennett Williamson on March 21, 2025
at the age of 66 after a long fight with Follicular lymphoma that recently transformed.

Judy was born to Janet and Judson Bennett on October 29th, 1958 and was the oldest of four
sisters raised in Hyattsville, MD. She met the love of her life and forever “boyfriend,” Robby,
while pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Maryland. After graduating,
she began a 35+ year nursing career at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Judy and Robby
married in 1981 and bought a small home in Newport News, VA which they renovated and
expanded alongside their growing family.

Judy found fulfillment in creativity and had many outlets for that. Two of her biggest passions
were gardening and home renovation projects, which she found as much joy in planning as in
executing. Her design and labor are intrinsic to their hand-built home in Smithfield, cottage in
Waynesboro, and the homes of many others. She also spent many hours painting, sewing,
dancing, and singing in the church choir and had an uncanny knack for fine arts. During one
paint night event, she decided she didn’t love the example painting, went rogue, and ended up
with a museum-worthy landscape.

Judy was an exceptional wife, mother, and human being, embodying unconditional love,
generosity, and warmth. She was devoted to her family and spent much of her time contributing
to others, whether it was helping with house projects, giving gardening advice, or caring for her
grandkids. She was predeceased by her parents, Jud and Janet. She is survived by her
husband of nearly 44 years, Robby, her children: Liz (Jerry), Christina (Scott), and Rob (Drea),
her grandsons: Bobby and Cooper, and her sisters: Janice, Joann, and Jaclyn.

Visitation will be at Peninsula Funeral Home on April 4th from 6pm to 7:30pm. Services will be
held at Hidenwood Presbyterian Church in Newport News on April 5th at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Lymphoma Research Foundation, or the Isle
of Wight Christian Outreach Program.

Judy was class and compassion personified.
I first met her at the MBA graduation of our children who were dating…
I was nervous as a single Mom and she smiled broadly and said “we love your fella” and totally made me feel at ease
She was so caring like it was part of her being…
I remember how beautiful she looked , dancing at our children’s wedding…
It feels so unreal she is gone..
Our last meeting was at our grandson Cooper’s second birthday…we had a long conversation, with Cooper sitting between us ,we sharing our love and hopes for our grandson…
Judy,I am so blessed to have known someone as unique as you….watch over your grandson from heaven..we will so miss you…

I always loved when we would get together with Jud, Janet, Judy, Janice, Joann and Jaclyn.. The 6 “J’s”. I had 3 girls and a boy in their age range. My prayers go out to the husband and the 3 girls. She was always a sweet girl who will be missed by all who knew her. The blessing is that she knew the Lord as her Savior and is in Heaven with Jesus and her parents. Sending Love and Prayers. Aunt Sandy
