John Calvin Saunders, 81, of Hayes, passed peacefully on November 10, 2024, after a long illness.
Calvin was a retired electrician and member of IBEW with 56 years of service to local 1340. If you knew Calvin, you knew he enjoyed driving fast and restoring old muscle cars.
He is survived by his daughter and caregiver, Robin Drew and her husband, Carlton; his son, John Thomas Saunders and his wife, Jennifer; his daughter, Beth Scott and her husband, Bob; five grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Susan C. Yeatts and her husband, Andrew; his brother-in-law, Clyde Allen Cottrill and his wife, Fredericka; and special caregiver, Arica Saunders. Also, thank you to Ralph and Carlena Pacheco, Lante Tucker, Donnie Smith, Jennifer Turnage, Ashley Middlebrook, Jessica O’Rork, and all other aides for their assistance.
The funeral service at Peninsula Funeral Home will be held Saturday at 2 p.m.

My sincere condolences
I am so sad that both Mr and Mrs Saunders (Calvin and Peggy) are no longer with us. They were our next door neighbors when I was a young boy. My family truly appreciated them and the care that they had for us. Calvin and Peggy were so special to me and my family!
