Jean Garrison Knill, 82, passed away at Charter Senior Living on Friday, September 12, 2025, with family by her side. Jean was born on November 3, 1942, in Norfolk, Virginia. She attended West Hampton University, where she earned a degree in teaching and psychology. It is here that she met her beloved husband, Frank. The two were married for 59 years and built a life together rooted in love and commitment.
Jean was a dedicated and hardworking teacher. She enjoyed working with the young children and spent her career shaping young minds and inspiring countless students with her patience, kindness, and perseverance in making sure they received a good education.
Outside of the classroom, Jean mostly enjoyed time with her family, whom she loved dearly. Our hearts are so sorrowful that we have to say goodbye for now, but we are comforted to know she is finally at peace and has transcended to a better place.
Jean was preceded in death by her father, G. Russell Garrison, her mother Marion Russell, and her brother Gayle Garrison. She is survived by her children, Laurie (Hank), Pete (Lee), David, and Matt. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Katie, Tommy, Rachel, Zoe, Sean, Joey and Patrick, and six great-grandchildren, Tristan, Isabelle, Sadie, Lilly, Hallie, and Junior.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
