Jackie Ray Pate, age 80, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025. Born on August 28, 1944, in Newport News, Virginia, Jackie lived a life marked by faith, craftsmanship, and devotion to family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Sally, his father, P.L. Pate of North Carolina, and his brothers, Jeff Davis Pate, Irvin Pate and Fred Pate, and his sister, Christine (Pate) Skinner. Jackie will be laid to rest beside his brother J.D. at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, VA.
Jackie earned a degree in theology in 2005, a reflection of his deep Christian faith and lifelong love of reading the Bible. Professionally, he was known for his exceptional skill in brick masonry and was employed by the company formerly known as Pate Flooring, where his work left a lasting impression on many homes and hearts.
He is survived by his daughter Robin (Pate) P. of North Carolina; grandchildren Logan S. and Sarah Z.; four great-grandchildren; his sister Helen Firth; brother Robert Pate; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
No formal services have been planned. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects by visiting his resting place at Peninsula Memorial Park.
Jackie’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the structures he built, and the faith he carried. He will be deeply missed.
