Harry Thomas Hill

Harry Thomas Hill, known to friends and family as Tom, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the age of 87 in Yorktown, Virginia. Born on December 30, 1937, Tom was a devoted husband, loving family member, and servant to his country.

Tom proudly served his country for 28 years in the United States Coast Guard, a career marked by dedication, discipline, and service to others. Tom retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in 1984; known as a respected leader, he cherished the many lifelong friendships he made during his years at sea and on shore.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Billie Hill; his parents, Bob and Norma Hill; his brother, Larry; and his sister, Marietta. He is survived by his brother, John (Kim) Hill; his sister-in-law, Cindy Mason; his cherished nieces, Kim (Chris) Adkins, Kristina (Justin) Byrum, Amy (Scott) Bennetta; and his nephew, Tom Hill.

A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Peninsula Funeral Home in Newport News, Virginia. Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.

A man of steadfast character, Tom was known for his deep love of family, his quick-wit, and his quiet generosity. Whether sharing stories from his Coast Guard days, playing golf, or traveling with Billie, he touched the lives of those around him with kindness and warmth.
