Edna Grace Hogan

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Edna Grace Hogan, who departed this world peacefully on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in Hampton, VA. Born on May 23, 1937, in Sampson County, NC, Edna was a beacon of love and warmth to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Edna was the cherished daughter of Walter and Eva Street. She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Claude Barbrey; her brothers Frank and Bill Street; her sister, Doris Thornton, and her grandson, Joshua. Through life’s trials and joys, Edna was surrounded by the love of her family and friends, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Harry Hogan; her children, Marie White (Tony), Cathy Bowen (JB), and Gary Barbrey; step-sons, Jeff and Dale; sister, Mildred Beasley; grandchildren: Jason, Beth, Heather, Cory, Neal, Kimberly, Blake, Cyle, and Jennifer; her numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her favorite grand-dog, Lucky.

Known affectionately as a “Jill of all trades,” Edna’s professional journey took her through various employment. However, her most treasured role was that of a housewife and mother, where her nurturing nature and boundless love found its truest expression. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, filled with laughter and the aroma of her lovingly tended flower garden.

Edna was a dedicated member of the Full Gospel Worship Center, where her faith was a guiding light in her life. Her compassionate spirit and unwavering belief in the goodness of people endeared her to all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 1:00-2:00 PM, at Peninsula Funeral Home, located at 11144 Warwick Blvd. A funeral service will start at 2:00 PM, with burial to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
