George “Harold” Grissom

George “Harold” Grissom went to be with his Savior, Jesus, on February 3, 2025. He peacefully passed away from complications of age-related illnesses. He was buried next to his parents at Peninsula Memorial Park on February 11, 2025.

Everyone that knew Harold, loved him. If he talked to you about the Washington Redskins, the Atlanta Braves, chocolate, or RC Cola, you had a friend. Harold was an active member of his community. From serving as an usher at Liberty Baptist Church, to walking around his neighborhood with his hand-carved bat, often heading to the ball field to support the local girls’ softball team; everyone local knew him.

For over forty years, Harold worked for the Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Center as well as Elmer Back Gifting. Both organizations are well-known for serving the community of which he was a part. Since his mother’s (Margaret Jones Grissom) passing, he lived with his sister, Kaye and her husband, Glenn. Harold led a happy and meaningful life with them where he was able to travel with family, to enjoy the company of friends, and to live like a “king” until the very end. Also, preceding Harold in death was his father, George Emmett Grissom.

Left to cherish the memories of Harold and his sparkling smile are his sister, Kaye Daniels (Glenn) and their children; sister, Jan Fuller (Joe) and her children; Mary Curfman (Edward) and their children; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
