Elwood C. Cornwell, CWO (US Army Ret.), 94, passed away on
Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
Mr. Cornwell served in the U.S. Army in Korea, Germany, France and served 2 tours in Vietnam. He retired after 24 years of service. After retiring, he worked as a supervisor at the Newport News Shipyard for 20 years. He enjoyed yardwork, travelling, and woodworking.
Mr. Cornwell was preceded in death by his son, Henry Cornwell. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Hannelore “Honey” Cornwell; his sister, Elizabeth McConchie of Roanoke; his sister-in-law, Marieanne Landsen of Copenhagen, Denmark; his half-brother, Edward “Junior” Marbaker, Jr. of Partlow, VA; 2 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will take place in his honor at Quantico National Cemetery, the burial will be private.

I grew up on Beechmont drive. Mr and Mrs Cornwell were friends of my parents. There were many cups of coffee and cake at the kitchen table. My condolences. A life well lived. Best regards, Vanessa Clopper
