Joy, my heart is heavy, and my thoughts are with you and the entire family. As we all know, Chuck was a remarkable person who touched so many lives with his caring nature, quick wit, and his joke of the day. Unfortunately, his time with us ended before he could begin his next career as a stand-up comedian, but I’m sure he’s up in Heaven sharing jokes with anyone who will listen. He will be deeply missed.

    Joy,
I just want you to know I have the utmost empathy for you right now. This is a walk you never would have chosen. Each day will get a little easier; but don’t expect too much too soon. Take each day and relax, stay in your pj’s, sleep late, call and stay close to your friends….make new friends. Life will unfold in new ways and it may surprise you with what comes your way. Love to you and your children.

There are many Ferguson Mariner athletes from the late 60’s that remember a team mate that gave 100% both in talent and attitude. I haven’t seen Chuck for over 40 years but I will never forget his big heart and how much he loved and admired Big Earl!

Chuck caught most of my pitches thrown in high school and American Legion. I caught most of his passes thrown our freshman year in high school. He was a great friend and teammate and the memory of our times together will not be forgotten. Rest in Peace.

Joy, truly it is bittersweet beloved of God, for the joy Chuck is experiencing now of reuniting with family and friends, surrounded by the many saints he has only read about in scriptures, the many mysteries now understood, and worshipping Jesus FACE TO FACE…is true joy for him. May the pure joy, true peace, and pure love he is experiencing sweeten the bitterness of your loss.
God, thank You that You hold Joy’s heart until…

I did not know Chuck personally, but being in the mortgage business 40+, we crossed paths in our businesses. He was a favorite appraiser of mine. Sending prayers.

Eric, please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your brother. Since our dads were friends and Earl Jr and I were born a year apart I do remember interactions and a few “ play dates” over there. Know that your family is in our thoughts .

Chuck was our neighbor yard buddy, pastor, leader, counselor, and a kind man full of strength and integrity. A man you could trust and who gave his all to what he did and was a man who stood for truth. You could count on him to be a support in times of crisis. He loved the word of God and devoured books to learn more. Chuck was a great Bible teacher but also a great listener. I loved to joke around with “Chuckles” and laugh at his jokes. He Loved Joy, his family and countless others. Our Heartfelt sympathy to the family.

  21. Mark Ailsworth

    Dear Joy and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences. Though we only rarely saw one another, I always enjoyed Chuck’s occasional calls to catch up and perhaps run some question up the legal flagpole. May you all find comfort in the assurance of Chuck’s steadfast faith.

  22. Mike Gurley

Dear Joy, I have such fond memories of Chuck and am deeply saddened by your loss. I’m so glad I got to see you both a few years ago at Peter’s funeral, but I wish I would have kept up with you all better. Chuck could make me laugh at the drop of the hat and had such a loving, laid back personality. And he was such an example of a Christ follower. I will never forget him! Please know that you and your family are in my heart during this time. May your grief be tempered by your memories of him and by your confidence in seeing him again one day. All my love, Mike
