Charles Richard Bourn (Charlie) passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the age of 88 after a period of declining health. He was born in Charleston, WV, and moved to Newport News in 1975.
Charlie was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Carleda Bourn in 2015. He is survived by his two sons, Rick and his wife Nancy of Raleigh, NC, and Chris and his wife Katie of Dandy, VA, his grandchildren Caitlin, Tommy, Conor, Laura, Cole, and a great-grandson, Nathan. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Lee of Palm Harbor, FL. He will be missed by all.
Charlie retired as an accountant at BASF. He was a homebody who enjoyed working in the yard, doing projects around the house, and walking his dog Benji. Another passion was solving his daily crossword puzzles and reviewing the results with his sister Linda each evening. We take comfort in knowing that our mom and dad are together again with Christ and free of pain.
A private graveyard service will be held for the family. Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.

Jay and I are sorry for your loss. We enjoyed seeing Charlie on our walks around the neighborhood. Jay was his mailman for several years. Like Charlie we are from West Virginia! Montani Semper Liberi ! We will miss seeing him . Lord bless his gentle soul.
