Bonnie L. Pfieffer

Bonnie L. Pfieffer, 96, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025. She was a native of California and a resident of Newport News for many years, and lately, of Carrollton, Virginia. Bonnie was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and the Red Hat Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Pfieffer, and her parents, Alma Marie Smith and Bryan Smith. She is survived by her four children: Paula J. Woodrum (Ron), Steven Z. Pfieffer (Darnell), Ronald L. Pfieffer (Melanie), and Penny L. Douglass (Richard); grandchildren: Chris, Steve, Scott, Jason, Jessica, Michelle, Ricky, Brandon and Gary; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Bonnie was generous and kind, a “real” lady and everyone who knew her loved her. She had the essence of light around her, and she was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside.

Bonnie was a true homemaker. She loved to bake and was a good cook. She had a quirky sense of humor and a heart of gold. Her family felt she was a gift from God when she was born and a gift back to him when she passed.

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Friday, June 13, at 11:30 a.m., and burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Virginia.

My heart goes out to her whole family; she was a client of our bank for many years and always a pleasure to see. A beautiful LADY inside and out and we will miss her. Prayers are with her family at this time.
