William E. (Bill) Fitzgerald passed away on June 27, 2021. He was a lifelong native of Newport News, VA, and wore many talented hats throughout his long and full life of servitude. He was faithful to the Commonwealth of VA and an ardent patriot who was very proud of his service in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. He was a proud member of “Bill W” for 46 years. He served as Vice Mayor of Newport News, City Councilman, and held various political and community roles.

He is survived by the love of his life, Maggie Fitzgerald of Newport News, VA; daughter, Mary Anne Sanford; son, William Coradine; step-daughter, Lynn Fields and her family, and his two brothers, Robert Fitzgerald, Gary Fitzgerald, and their families. He faithfully attended Congregation Zion Sake.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on July 8, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at Congregation Zion Sake, 1233 Shields Road, Newport News, VA.
