Walter “Richard” Arrington
Walter “Richard” Arrington, 94, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023. He was a native of Oxford, NC, and a Newport News resident for 70 years. Walter was in the Navy and Air Force, where he fought in the Korean War before working for Newport News School System as a Director of Maintenance, where he retired after 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mariel Arrington.
Walter is survived by his daughter, Terry Cooper; son, Jeff Arrington (Kathy); brother, Norman Arrington; three grandchildren, Courtney Wisecarver (Micah), Christopher Cooper, and Drew Arrington; three great-grandchildren, Quinn, Heidi, and Cooper Wisecarver; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A graveside service will occur at Peninsula Memorial Park on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Children’s Hospital.
