Valarie Heath Forrester

Valarie Heath Forrester, 59, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. She was a lifelong resident of Newport News.

For the last seven years, Valarie worked in sales at Clayton Homes, where she developed great relationships with her coworkers, whom she loved dearly. She also had a love for her clients and would make each of them a handmade Welcome Home sign as a special personalized thank you.

Valarie had a love for shooting pool with her husband, Chuck. She was an active member of the Amateur Pool Association. She finished 9th in the country at the APA Nationals Singles 8 Ball tournament.

She loved getting together with family and cooking for everyone. Valarie had skill on the grill. She loved putting her toes in the sand at the beach; she was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan; she was very crafty;  she loved making shirts and cups for family and friends; she loved testing her luck at slot machines; and she enjoyed taking pictures and using the filters.

Most of all, she loved her grandkids. When she couldn’t be with them, she would spend hours on Facetime with all of them.

Valarie was preceded in death by her father, Andrew J. Heath; mother, Phyllis A. McCaskill; stepfather, Robert “Bobby” McCaskill; uncle, Don Branch; niece Catrina Chandler; and great-nephew Bryson Houston. Also, to greet her with tails wagging, her one and only fur baby, Sammi, and her grand-fur baby, Phoebe.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Chuck Forrester of Newport News, Va.; son Kenneth “Kenny” Ezzell (Melody) of Lynchburg, Va; daughter Jessica “Jessi” Thomas (Francis) of Woodbridge, Va; four grandchildren: Malayah, Francis “Trey,” Kennedy and Zariah; three sisters: Lynn Heath Miller of Hampton, Va., Amanda Heath Houston of Richmond, Va., and Brenda Chandler of Grimesland, N.C.; two brothers: Michael and Robert “Trippi” Heath of Newport News, Va.; five nephews, eight nieces, four great-nephews and 10 great-nieces; as well as her lifelong friend of 45 years, Marie Burnett; and a host of cousins and close friends.

Valarie touched the lives of many people in many different ways and will be greatly missed by all.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 24, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home.  A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.

I’m so sad to hear of Valarie’s passing. She was such a jewel. Valarie and I recently talked about getting together for dinner to catch up on each other’s lives. I wish I had not procrastinated.

I’m beyond sorry for y’all’s loss. Val had a wonderful spirit and a very fun personality. I definitely enjoyed getting to know her on Wednesdays when she would come in to BRICKHOUSE to get pizza during concert nights in the summertime. She was full of laughs and always smiled. I remembered every topping on her pizza when she would call and order and she was always so grateful, I enjoyed every conversation with her. Your family is in my prayers. Rest her soul.
