Thomas David Irwin, 65, of Newport News, Va., passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021.

Born July 13, 1956, in Connecticut, he was the son of the late Thomas C. Irwin, Ph.D., and Penelope Irwin, RN.

Dave was a loving husband and brother who went to West Virginia University completing his bachelor’s degree in finance at Christopher Newport College.

He worked in the service industry giving him extensive contact with people from all walks of life. Dave loved being outdoors, grilling, all sports . . . especially golf. He was an avid Raiders football fan and devoted Mountaineers football and basketball fan. Music was one of his passions, especially from the 1970s – that went well with his favorite cigars and cocktails.

Dave is survived by his wife, Susan Irwin; brothers-in-law, Tom Turner of Newport News, Va., Bill Turner of Norfolk, Va. and Vinny Pletnick of Mathews, Va.; two brothers, Don Irwin of Cortez, Colo. and Bob Irwin and husband Floyd Gonzales of Miami, Fla.; as well as nieces and nephews.
