Shirley Anne Tatem Hill, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior.  She passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 3, 2022, in her home, surrounded by her loving family.  Born July 4, 1938, in Hampton, Virginia to Marvin Thomas Tatem and Annie Mae Spencer Tatem.  She married the love of her life, Thurman (Cary) Hill, Jr. on February 14, 1959.   Shirley loved her family dearly – her three daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and great-granchildren. She loved Jesus and was an active member at Northside Christian Church, serving as a life coach, a member of the Praymates Sunday School Class, as well as being involved in the KIT Group (Keeping in Touch) for widows.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Cary Hill who passed away on October 26, 2000; her parents; and her brother, Thomas Tatem.  She is survived by her three daughters, Lisa Puterbaugh (Kirk) of Yorktown, Julie Haynes (Kelvin) of Newport News, and Diana George (Robbie) of Yorktown; seven grandchildren, Joey Puterbaugh (Kim), Cary Anne Carr (Justin), Joshua Puterbaugh (Fiance Stephanie), Rustin Haynes, Emily Bradley (Colin), Kaleigh George (boyfriend Travis), Carter George; four great-grandchildren, Sunny Jean, Bear, Cade, and Keagan.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Northside Christian Church. A funeral service will follow at the church at 4:00 p.m.  Interment will be private.
