Robert Crosby Long
Robert Crosby Long, 79, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at his home in Newport News. He was a lifelong resident of Virginia. Robert worked as a Fireman and EMT for the City of Newport News and Newport News Shipyard. He retired from the Shipyard after 28 years.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Irene Long.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Nancy Long; two daughters, Tammy Long Foster (John) and Bonnie Geistel; son, Jerry Long (Susan); sister, Lois Payne; two grandchildren, Brandon Hyler and Brittany Foster; one great-grandchild, Charlie; one niece, Jeannie Shepherd; and one nephew, Michael Gabriel.
A memorial service will be held at Peninsula Funeral Home on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 3:00 P.M. The family will have a gathering after the service at 60 Robinson Dr., Newport News, VA 23601, for BBQ and fellowship.

Bob was always quick to smile and friendly to all that he encountered. It is sad to know that he is gone, but I am sure he is smiling down on us from Heaven. May God comfort and Bless his family and friends during this time of loss. Rest in Peace my friend, well done, and until we meet again.

Bobby will be so missed…God has him now and what a home coming he has received. No one could ever tell a joke like him , he loved his wife and children and all his family including those he loved just like family. He never knew a stranger, we will all miss him until we meet again! May God keep his family in comfort in the days and weeks to come Hoping it ease their sorrow.
