Peggy Brooks Rollins
Peggy Brooks Rollins left her earthly home and went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 27, 2022. Peggy was born in Saltville, Virginia on December 28, 1932, where she spent the first eight years of her life. She loved being “from the mountains” and recounted stories about her and her siblings’ adventures and antics in McCrady and along the North Holston River. Her family relocated to Newport News where Peggy graduated from Newport News High School. She married the love her life, Bobby Rollins and moved to Poquoson in 1962.
Peggy had a wonderful and exciting 32- year career at NASA Langley, but her most cherished role was that of wife and mother. She always “put family first” and was an “all in” mom cheering at softball games, working with the Girl Scouts, chaperoning countless field trips, being an ardent Poquoson High School “band booster” and supporting her husband, daughter, and family with her whole heart.
She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish precious memories her devoted husband of 65 years, Robert B. “Bobby” Rollins, her daughter Karen Rollins Jackson, grand-dogs Abby and Loki, and a host of dear friends, and extended family.
Her arrival in heaven was celebrated by those so dear to her including her parents, Thomas Frederick “Fred” and Lucy Brooks, sisters Francis Farris, and Thelma Berry and their husbands A.C. and Calvin; brothers Benjamin “Benny” Brooks, Thomas Frederick “T.F” Brooks, Jr., James Russell “Jimmie” Brooks, and their wives Irene, Neva, and Carolyn.
Peggy often spoke lovingly of her mother, Lucy Brooks who passed when Peggy was merely five years old, stating that when she went to heaven her mother would finally have all her children with her again. What a reunion it must have been!
The family wants to express their deep gratitude to all the caregivers and special friends who gave selflessly of their time and talents. You are the best!
Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.
