Pauline D. Somervill, 90, left this world and went to her heavenly reward on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. She had been a lifelong resident of Newport News. Pauline was a graduate of Newport News High School, Class of 1948, and held a degree from Thomas Nelson Community College as a dietician. She was a retiree from the Newport News Public School System where she served the last of her career as Cafeteria Manager of Denbigh High School for 20 years. Pauline loved woodworking and crafts and enjoyed them until just prior to her passing of a long illness. She was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Newport News, where she was in the class of the King’s Daughters and sang with the Swinging Singers. Pauline was also a Red Hat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Plato M. and Melva E. Davis, brother Melvin C. Davis and husband Samuel H. Somervill, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl A. Jefferys; sons, Timothy W. and Dennis L. Rudisal; grandsons, Steven W. and Adam T. Jefferys and Justin A. Rudisal; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Leia Jefferys. Pauline was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to numerous others of the Samuel H. Somerevill, Jr. family and loved them all as her own.

A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, October 13 at 1:00 p.m.at Peninsula Memorial Park, officiated by Walter G. Satchel, Jr.
