Pastor Bruce John Hoose, 73, passed away on December 5, 2020. He was a native of Albany, New York and a resident of Newport News for 6 years where he was Pastor of Charity Independent Baptist Church, also for 6 years. Bruce served in the U.S. Navy and received the Purple Heart.

Pastor Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, John Ashley and Betty Hilton; and sister, Penny. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anna C. Hoose; daughters, Tammy Trinkle, Nicole Purcell, and Vanessa Cimbron; sons, Chad and Matthew Hoose; grandchildren, Timothy Trinkle, John Trinkle, Grace Trinkle, Kinsley Hoose, James Trinkle, Ari Cimbron, Hudson Hoose, and Alyssa Hoose; great-grandson, Tucker Trinkle; sisters, Inez and Pam; brothers, Brian and Craig; and cousin, Ronny.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Charity Independent Baptist Church, 39 Harpersville Road, in Newport News. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, December 11, at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, in Suffolk. Guests are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
