Owen Andrew Knies Hitch, age 2 years 10 months, died on April 26, 2022, in his parents’ arms at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk, VA. Owen was born on June 15, 2019, at Norfolk General Hospital to parents Ryan Hitch and Jennifer Knies. Owen spent the first 8 months of his life battling congenital heart disease and then had two wonderful years at home with his family before an illness combined with heart complications took his life. His infectious joy for life touched many friends and neighbors. He liked throwing balls, watching trucks, reading books, listening to music, and dancing with his sisters. Owen is survived by his parents, sisters Evelyn and Charlotte, grandparents Art and Karen Hitch, Leonard and Laurie Knies, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family is hosting a memorial service on Saturday, May 7 at 11:00 AM at Hilton Presbyterian Church.
