Ovella Jones Rilee Lucy of Newport News passed away peacefully on February 18, 2021, at the age of 100. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ruby Jones; her first husband, Woodrow Rilee; her second husband, Thurman Lucy; one sister and three brothers.

She is survived by one brother, Shirley Jones; four children, Jenny Booth, Betty Hicks, Kathy Rilee (Wayne Wise), and Bill Lucy (Lori); 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was a founding member of Parkview United Methodist Church, where she remained a faithful member and was the last living original member.

She loved doing all kinds of crafts, especially knit and crochet, and many friends and relatives cherish her creations.  She felt her greatest accomplishment was her family, for whom she was a pillar of strength and continues to be a source of inspiration.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 23 at 11:00 am, at Peninsula Memorial Park.  Masks and social distancing are required.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters or your local food bank.
