Mary Kay Bollhorst
Mary Kay Bollhorst, age 77, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Mary Kay was preceded in death by her parents Erwin John and Aurelia Victoria Harting, the love of her life, husband Dan, and brothers Dan and Jim Harting. She is survived by her sister Pat DeMoss; Children Nick (Susan), Jason (Sherrie), Audra Williams (Stewart) and Andy (Lisa). Grandchildren Nicolas, Ethan, Mason, Gabriel, Rachel (Nick); Caitlin, Madison, Sydney (Jason), Tiffany, Ashley (Audra), Savannah, Zack, Alex (Andy), 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Mary Kay raised her children in Newport News. Dan and Mary Kay moved back to Illinois after his retirement. She eventually settled home permanently in Carrollton in 2013. Her family was her priority in every aspect of her life.
Mary Kay was a longtime member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Denbigh. She loved the community of Newport News, Baseball, Bingo and attending various NNPD events. She often cooked meals for Police events or holidays to ensure those working would have homemade meals. She was a member of the Newport News Fraternal Order of Police. Mary Kay served in multiple roles with Denbigh Youth Baseball League for many years and rarely missed a game with any of her children. She was considered a “mother” to hundreds in the baseball community. She loved her St. Louis Cardinals and celebrated when they won the world series by purchasing all the memorabilia for her children. Mary Kay enjoyed the many family camping trips and vacations to the Bollhorst family farm in Macon Ill. Mary Kay cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely. She celebrated most all milestones from graduations, church events, parties and more. She had a love of all animals especially her dogs, cats, horses, ducks and goats over the years. Mary Kay’s celebration of life will be held at Crosswalk Church-Kingsway, 5100 John Tyler Highway, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185 on Sunday, December 5th at 3:00. A reception will follow at Nick and Susan Bollhorst’s home.

We are so very sorry for the loss of Mary Kay. She will be sorely missed. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to the entire Bollhorst family.
