Lynn C. Hughes of Newport News passed away on July 20, 2023.  He would have been 87 on July 23.  Lynn was a native of Lebanon, Virginia, and a resident of Newport News since 1961.  He retired from the Shipyard in 1994 as a Welding Instructor after 33 years of service. He loved cars, country music, dogs, and tinkering around in his garage.   Lynn attended Peninsula Missionary Baptist Church.  

Lynn was preceded in death by his son Ricky Hughes.  He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Peggy C. Hughes; son, Tom Hughes, and his wife, Peggy; two sisters; one brother; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Brian Hughes.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 24, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, with a funeral service following at 7:00 p.m.  A private entombment will be held on Tuesday at Parklawn Memorial Park.
