Louise Turner Berrane, 78, of Yorktown, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.  She was born in Wilmington, North Carolina on August 2, 1944, to the late Oliva Raftery Turner and Horace Murdock Turner.  She has been reunited with her parents, husband, Sherwood McCray Berrane, sister, Irene Turner Powell, and son, Marvin E. Berrane.

Louise leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Bradley E. Berrane (Susan) of Yorktown, Charles M. Berrane (Suzie) of Miami, FL, and Theresa A. Berrane of Yorktown.  She was also blessed with a large and loving extended family including nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Joseph, Andy, David, Michelle, Benjamin, Danielle, Patrick, and Christen, 13 great-grandchildren, loving nieces, Laura and Anna, numerous cousins, and many friends who were like family.

Known as “Lou”, Mom and later G-ma, Louise Berrane attended Wilmington College and then married Sherwood Berrane of Yorktown.  They were married for over 30 years.  After his passing, she then ran the business he began, Berrane Enterprises, and became the matriarch of the family.

Louise will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her family and friends are comforted by the memories shared of travels, parties, and conversations shared over glasses of sweet tea.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 23 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 24 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
