Lorn Chhim, 75, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021. He was born on February 1, 1945, in Takéo Province, Cambodia, to the late Chhim Sam and Por Han. He had been a Peninsula resident since 1997.

Lorn was a man of great compassion, integrity, and a strong believer in hard work. He was famously short-tempered, but his kindness far exceeded his shortcoming. He had a deep connection to his hometown and always looked for ways to give back to his community. Lorn was passionate about politics and enjoyed sharing and discussing his views with others. He was also known for his love of chess, palm reading, sad love songs, and most notably, a grandmaster of making up creative terms of endearment for each of his children.

Lorn grew up on a farm where he was born and attended school. After graduating college in 1970, he worked as a Military Police officer. From 1975 to 1979, he survived one of the most horrific atrocities in human history when a communist regime seized power in Cambodia.
After the war, he became a physics professor before landing a job at the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts. In 1997, Lorn relocated to the United States. For many years, he worked at various jobs to support his family and to ensure his children would get a proper education.

Last year Lorn celebrated 50 years of marriage that produced nine children, eighteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.  He is survived by his wife, Kimsourn Im; sons, Sokhama Chhim, Kosal Chhim, Makara Chhim, Vatanak Chhim; daughters, Saravy Chhim, Kimsien Chhim, Chenda Chhim, Sotheary Chhim, Samnang Chhim; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be limited to family only and guests are invited to participate in the service through live streaming (www.peninsulafuneralhome.com/video) on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Guests are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
