Laura Hawk Harkness went to be with her Best Friend and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, September 29th. Laura was born February 4, 1967 in Newport News, Va.

Laura was full of life and always had a big smile. She loved everyone she met and willingly gave to others. Laura was always positive, encouraging and everyone’s biggest cheerleader. She was great at encouraging people to follow their dreams and goals.

Laura leaves behind her soulmate and Husband, Jim Harkness. Her daughter Kasie (Matthieu) Sullivan, son Garrett Harkness, three grandkids Mikayla, Avalyn and Logan Sullivan. Her father, Dr. Wilson S.Hawk Jr. and siblings Lisa (Andy) Tatem, Cindi (Ray) Lanier, Sheaffer (Wende) Hawk, Jennifer (Allen) Joyner, Bekah (Nick) Dupree, Rachel (Paul) Hill, Sharon (Scott) Harwell and numerous nieces and nephews.

Laura is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Hawk and grandparents Wilson and Gertrude Hawk Sr. and Effie and George Smith.

The family will be receiving guests in a casual environment, Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 10am to 11am at Peninsula Funeral Home.
