Judith Randolph Union Walker, 79, of Mathews, Virginia, passed away on August 1. She is survived by her son Robert Nichols and wife Lori; daughter Kelly Nichols and husband Edward Hesse of Newport News, Virginia; brother Douglas Union and wife Roberta of Portsmouth, Virginia. Judith has many loving grandchildren and nieces. Judith is preceded in death by her husband, George Burbank Walker, brothers Donald Keeler and Tim Union of Hampton, Virginia, and sister, Rebecca Sue Stokes of Ft. White, Florida.
Judith’s love of gardening was evident in her home’s surroundings. Not only did she possess an encyclopedic knowledge of plants and flowers, but her garden was a true reflection of her vibrant spirit and appreciation of nature’s beauty.
An avid genealogist, Judith dedicated countless hours to uncovering the stories of her ancestors. Her passion for genealogy was matched only by her enthusiasm for sharing her discoveries with her family and friends, enriching their understanding of their heritage and family history.
Judith was a proud Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) member. Her involvement in the organization reflected her deep respect for history and commitment to preserving the legacy of those who came before her. Judith contributed to her community through her work with the DAR and honored her family’s heritage with grace and dedication.
Judith enjoyed quilting and many other creative pursuits throughout her life. She had an extraordinary talent for flower arranging and creating beautiful wreaths. Whether it be flowers, crafts, or the art of ancestral research, Judith’s endeavors knew no bounds.
The family wishes to thank the people at The Newport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their generous care. A special thank you to Judith’s friend and neighbor, Karla Homick, for her unwavering support and friendship.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the local community garden or the Daughters of the American Revolution in honor of Judith’s passions and contributions.
Judith Union Walker will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
