Joanne Hudik

Joanne “Jo” (Collins) Hudik, 62, was called to heaven on Thursday, November 4th, 2021, after an extensive courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on October 5th, 1959 in Newport News, Va, the daughter of Eddie and Helen Collins. She married her beloved husband, David Hudik, on July 21st, 2018, after nearly a decade together, but a lifetime of friendship and love. As a life-long resident, Joanne graduated Warwick High School/Point Option in 1978. She became a single mother at the age of 23. Often maintaining multiple jobs at a time, determined to provide her daughter with the best life possible. Her primary position was held at Noland Company as an Accounts Receivable Clerk, where she excelled as an imperative fixture for over 20 years. She eventually found her calling as a Home Care Aide, after earning her certification in that field, doing what she shined the brightest at; taking care of people when they needed it the absolute most. She had a great passion for poetry, music, and a vast array of arts & crafts. She loved the beach, westerns, Shirley Temple, and butterflies. She took great joy in collecting all things pertaining to butterflies throughout her entire life. She had the astonishing knack of always giving precisely the advice that you needed, or a quick-witted retort. She was not simply a fighter, but a force to be reckoned with. She was unwavering in her dedication to her loved ones, which she loved unconditionally with every fiber of her being.

She will be remembered for her tenacity, resilience, loyalty, and sharp wit. For being a devoted wife, amazing mother, extraordinary grandmother, loving sister, doting aunt, and above all else, a one-of-a-kind pillar of strength with the most genuine heart of gold.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Helen Collins; older sister, Julie Morris; nephew, Edward Paul Collins; and great-niece, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Joy Collins.
