James “Jim” W. Upole went to be with his maker on Thursday, July 19, 2023, after a long illness. He was 79 years young. Jim was a long-time employee of Security Pacific and Bank of America Financial Group. He loved volunteering at Hilton Baptist Church, especially with the youth in summer bible schools.

Originally from Pennsylvania, he has been a resident of Newport News since 1983.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Betty and Frank Rosner. He leaves a loving and very caring wife of 56 years, Margaret; a loving daughter Beth Fitzgerald and her husband, Jeff; grandsons, Taylor and Ian; brother, Ronald Rosner and three sisters, Leslie Swartz, Joyce Hall, and Ruth Swift, and their families.

The family will have a Celebration of Life at Beth and Jeff Fitzgerald’s home on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jim’s name to Hilton Baptist Church.
