Isabel M. Jordan
Isabel M. Jordan, 89, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023. She was a native of Spain and a resident of Newport News for 41 years. Isabel was a teacher and taught Spanish at Peninsula Catholic High School. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church where she participated with a prayer group and introduced them to The Divine Mercy. She had also served as a Eucharistic minister. Isabel loved to work in her yard and had been active up until just recently.
Isabel was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Jordan. She is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth J. Geer (Virginia), and Julia M. Turner (South Carolina), four sons, William R. Jordan Jr. (North Carolina), John C. Jordan (Alaska), Paul E. Jordan (Virginia) and Joseph J. Jordan (Virginia); thirteen grandchildren, William R. Jordan III, Nick Jordan, Jessica Mahan, Catherine Jordan, Kyndra Light, Jordan Geer, Sarah Ellenbogen, Nathan Jordan, Katherine Turner, Monica Turner, Amanda Turner, Ashlen Jordan and Kimberly Jordan; 16 great-grandchildren; and one niece, Beatriz Sanchez (Spain).
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, with a funeral mass to follow. Burial will be at Peninsula Memorial Park.

Isabel always brought me mint plants from her garden and I know very well how much she loved her garden.
I also know her devotion to the Rosary and the Divine Mercy.
May she rest in peace and plant a beautiful garden where her soul is now.

She was such an amazing teacher. So kind. One of my favorites. I remember one time I used some of my Latin vocabulary as answers on her Spanish test. She gave me credit even though it was the wrong language.
